6 Spritzes From Around The World To Sip This Spring

While Italy’s Aperol Spritz may be the unofficial warm-weather cocktail of spring and summer, there are plenty of other bubbly aperitifs from around the globe to sip this season.

SpainEl Bandarra Al Fresco

El Bandarra is a range of refreshing, natural Barcelona-inspired aperitifs that include a red vermouth, a white vermouth, and a bittersweet Al Fresco aperitivo. Created by three brothers from the Virgili family, owners of the 19-century Casa Berger winery, El Bandarra Al Fresco is made with a base of grenache wine and flavored with Mediterranean botanicals like licorice, mint, rose and citrus fruits. The tipple makes for a summery Spanish spritz when mixed with tonic water (one-part Al Fresco to two-parts tonic, plus a slice of orange).

Austria – Moose Mountain Spirit

Handcrafted in Freihof Distillery high in the Austrian Alps, Moose is a completely original botanical spirit made with mint, mountain pine, gentian flower, chili and authentic Canadian maple syrup from Saint-Victor, Quebec. For a fresh and unique twist on the typical spritz, try a spiced apple and ginger spritz with Moose (50ml); cloudy apple juice (25ml), ginger ale (100ml) and fresh lime juice (25ml).

France – Lillet Blanc

Refreshing and oh-so-French, Lillet is a fortified wine made with grapes from Bordeaux and citrus-forward botanicals. While Lillet Blanc is a common ingredient in many cocktail recipes, it’s a traditional French aperitif and just gorgeous on ice with a generous splash of tonic and—if you’re feeling fancy—a few slices of cucumber. Et voilà: the perfect French spritz!

Italy  –  Starlino Rosé Aperitivo

Crafted in Piedmont’s Torino Distillati, Starlino Rosé is a blend of rosé wine made with trebbiano grapes and bright botanicals like pink grapefruit, sun-sweetened orange peel and elderflower. For a photo-friendly pink spritz, combine one-part Starlino Rosé with three-parts prosecco and one-part soda, and add a slice of grapefruit as a garnish.

Britain –  Kamm & Sons British Aperitif

Handmade in small batches in Burgundy, France, Azaline Vermouth is made with local pinot noir grapes and infused with the far-flung flavors of the classic spices, herbs and botanicals first sourced on the ancient Silk Road. Bring out notes of saffron, cardamom, coriander, gentian and juniper with a simple Silk Road spritz, made by mixing Azaline with a splash of soda or tonic and plenty of ice.
