Leawood couple builds dream home at 1/12th the size

People have found different ways to spend their time at home during the pandemic. A Leawood couple used their time to build their dream house although they never plan to ever move into it.”He came home, and I said, ‘I’ve got this great idea,'” said Annie Kampfe.The couple built a mid-century modern home at 1/12th the size. The mini home has three bedrooms, one bathroom, has an office area, a game room, furnace room and laundry room. And it’s fully electrical.”We had never done anything like this before,” Kampfe said.The miniature house is not only completely to scale with family pictures and a mini dollhouse inside the mini house, it’s even got KC barbecue on the grill.The couple said that finishing the project kept thoughts of the pandemic at bay.”It was just a great diversion,” Kampfe said.The family posted pictures of the mini house on Instagram with a link to make a small donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.”We can take what we created and bring awareness to the Alzheimer’s Foundation,” Kampfe said.The bathroom has real tile, individually cut actual floor panels grouted in the entryway and custom-designed miniature from Israel, Spain and Germany.It is a dream house Kampfe said that is full of memories.”It was challenging figuring it out,” said Cliff Donnelly, tiny home builder.”We tried to make it as realistic as possible,” Kampfe said.She said it was a simple way to help a charity and close the door on the pandemic.The couple says their Instagram followers went from 100 to 40,000 in just over a week when they posted pictures of the mini house.
