Letter: A pandemic payback for Europe’s ‘free movement’

Your article about the pandemic helping to reverse the southern Italian brain drain (Report, April 7) gives some hope for countries like Romania and Bulgaria. From these two EU member states, far too many well trained young people fled westwards, as a result of the rules allowing the completely free movement of people inside the bloc. This was not helpful for any of these countries.
